TRI-ING FOR A CURE

Raising Support for Lung Cancer Research at Florida Hospital

On November 17, 2013, I will be competing in my first full ironman distance triathlon. Over 140.6 miles in the Arizona desert (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26.2 mile run.) I will be out there suffering; pushing my mind, body and spirit to a new level to get to that finish line.

This inspiring video clip provides insight on the experience I have signed up for

I AM DOING THIS FOR TWO REASONS:

Firstly, as a tribute to my wife Christine who survived lung cancer last year. She is a life-long non-smoker, so the diagnosis took us completely by surprise. I witnessed her bravery before, during and after an operation that removed a large section of her right lung. Christine bounced back quickly. Three months later she ran her first half marathon. Convinced she could run it quicker, she trained hard over the winter and ran her second half marathon in February in a time that was 21 minutes quicker. My wife is an inspiration to me.

Secondly, the care Christine received from Florida Hospital and the specialists was exceptional at every level. She benefited from treatment that has been shaped by past fundraising initiatives at Florida Hospital. I want to say thank you, and help future patients, by raising funds for lung cancer research at Florida Hospital.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

My goal is to raise at least $60,000. You can support my efforts to raising funds for lung cancer research at Florida Hospital in three ways:

1. Make a monetary gift by clicking “GIVE” in the upper right hand corner.

2. Create a personal fundraising page and help fundraise support for lung cancer research.

3. Contribute in spirit by recruiting a "virtual" TRI-Team to swim, cycle, or run part of the IRONMAN from afar on November 17, 2013. TRI-Teams are also encouraged to raise support for lung cancer research through their TRI-Team fundraising pages.

On November 17th, I will be using every ounce of my determination to complete the distance. It would be great to know that as I’m counting down the miles I have reached my fund raising goal of at least $60,000, thanks to your generous support. I will also be immensely grateful to see Christine’s smiling face as I cross that finish line.

100% of your generous gift will benefit lung cancer research
at Florida Hospital. DONATE NOW

Thanks for your support,
